Iruya lodge was built in the highest part of the settlement of salta and enjoys views of the whole town, the valley, the river, and the gorge. The town square is near the river and has a lovely 18th-century church made of adobe. The town is relaxing and pertinent for mules and pedestrians. In iruya and the surrounding district you will find water and some lands where poplars and willows, corn, and cinchonas grow. The locals are farmers and shepherds. The town was built by the spanish in 1753, but the valleys were initial inhabited by the natives and then conquered by the incas just before the spanish arrival.
The single-story building has a broad focal hall where the reception, living rooms, bar, and eatery are situated. The building has a broad terrace and a covered gallery overlooking the valley and hills that surround it. From there you will have an incredible view of the condors, which nest in one of the east hills. The intact lodge is surrounded by a dry-stone wall, including the sixty steps that lead to the main entrance door. For lunch and dinner, enjoy a menu usual of the district, which shows the idiosyncrasy of these pre-columbian towns.
The iruya lodge has 15 rooms that allow you to enjoy a comfy rest and the prevailing silence in this far place.
