The township of 1770, site of james cook’s historic landing on 24th may 1770, can rightly lay claim to the title “birthplace of queensland”. Located along a magical, sun drenched lengthen of sub-tropical surf coastline between bundaberg and gladstone, and nestled amongst five national parks, the dual township 1770/agnes water is also the closest access purpose to the southern great barrier reef.
Agnes water, the northern most surf beach on the coast of australia, awaits your discovery. Hire a scooter and tour the town or four wheel drive through the deepwater or eurimbula national parks where you may spot an emu or two.
Even play around of golf with the kangaroos at the 1770 golf course and driving range. Enjoy the festivities of the antique re-enactment of lieutenant james cook’s landing, on the foreshore of 1770, held in may each year.

Flying: catch a flight to either bundaberg or gladstone then it’s your perfect to either hire a car or jump on a greyhound bus.
Driving: from the south follow the signs to bundaberg, after passing through the town of childers on the bruce hwy. From which you follow all the signs to agnes water/1770… from north you take a left off the bruce hwy. At miriam vale and follow the signs to agnes water/1770.
Coaching: greyhound australia run daily between bundaberg and agnes water/1770.
Training: train or tilt train stops at bundaberg, gladstone and miriam vale. (the tilt train is a rapid and comfortable way to travel.)
